Scalabiliity
Here is a good question for all coaches who run a business...
Scalability. and how can you achieve this in a coaching practice.
Good thing life is not a SPRINT PCS commercial , where you have these mini clones running around doing your chores.
We only have 40 to 60 hours in a normal work week. So your billing potential will be capped. even if you can get to the executive coaching level, the money train must stop...
Asking the question, how can coaching lead to referrals into other people to people enterprises, and can you ethically create a revenue creation framework that will allow your clients to support you?
Don't want to make everything feel like a sales pitch, but you don't want to be eating top ramen for the rest of your life eh?
scalability for coaching. It is possible, but how?

FREE! The Price is right
Hi,
For anyone and everyone who is willing to take this to heart.
While in ICA, or even not. If you can take advantage of the wisdom and skill around you, DO SO!
My peer coach recommended I get as much peer coaching as possible for free while in the ICA program.
Its free, but its still effective.
I called into the "Communities of Practice : Business" as a requirement for ICA graduation, and I ended up volunteering to be the client. I brought up a real world scenario, and received 30 minutes of good good coaching. WAHOO! YEEHAW! HUZZAH!
Maybe my shouts of joy are not normal for your country, so i wanted to cover the bases for joy where you are.
Then I volunteer to be someone's guinea pig for a trial session. She will try to do a free introductory session with me as if I am a perspective client, I plan to use real live scenarios with her!
Don't hate on free!
the best things in life are free.

Peer coaching sessions
Hi,
I completed 2 coaching sessions in the past week. Both with the same coach. P from Europe. he is a fellow colleague from ICA. He is a little further along in his coursework.
Through ICA, peer coaching is a requirement, but as I have been going through the process, i believe peer coaching should be a requirement for everyone for the rest of their lives.
I believe that when I was a youngster in NYC fresh out of college, I was getting coaching. But in the past 3 years, since i have been married, i have strayed away from good structured time of self reflection and improvement.
Not like I have regressed into this lump on a log or anything, but I know that peer coaching is beneficial.
As I started the peer coaching session, i stated my goal: I want to experience good coaching and have an "AHA!" moment. I want to understand and value coaching highly. I also want to feel that there is a good meeting of the minds between coach and client.
Another requirement is that you have to complete 12 sessions with the same coach. Thats 3 months, if you take 1 session a week. So you better be sure its a good fit. You wouldn't keep a pair of bad shoes that caused blisters for more than a couple days right?
The session was good, I sent over my "Design your life" reflections, so P, had a good idea about me. Or as much information as I would like to disclose.
We got right into it. Through a series of questions from P, I discovered that I had some improper opinions about people. I can get annoyed with people. I put the blame and responsibility on that person and I stay blameless. Sounds good right? haha
That is unless, I work in a c areer that requires interfacing with people like Real Estate sales, and Coaching.
P , was able to suggest that a better perspective was that the responsibility of likeability is my responsibility. If there is someone who brings a higher degree of stress, then its up to me to find out why that stress is in me, and learn to handle it. I can't make people change.
It helped me a ton.
2nd coaching session:
We discussed a decision that needed to be made. OK, the decision was already made, just the carrying out of the decision and some discussion about how to execute the commitment. We talked a lot about the outcome.
Since the decision was already determined to be the best for Me, then why was it so hard to do? I have been delaying communicating this decision for over a week.
I had to be at peace with the way I carried out the communication.
I want to leave my part time job. I want to communicate some of my dissatisfaction with the company before I leave. but will it seem like sour grapes or unsportsmanlike conduct?
We decided that I would ask permission to speak freely about my reasons for departure during the exit interview. If they are not interested in hearing, then ok. if yes, then state my position and move on.
It also came to light that maybe a little role playing with my wife about the conversation will help me to make sure everything goes well.
So, another good session.
P, suggested the observation that I seem to be very busy with multiple jobs and home life. I agreed, then he suggested that I schedule leisure into my outlook. I agreed.
So friday is currently open right now. I am going to plan some family fun time.
2 action items came from the coaching session.
Lets see how it gets carried out!

FC 102- Part 1- Perspective
Perspective: The Lens through which we see things and process what has happened in life.
A new move is coming out this week called Vantage Point. Its about 8 people who witnessed the president or some presidential type getting shot. Then the mayhem that follows such a dastardly deed.
Its has been said that if all you do in coaching is help re-frame perspective for your clients, you will be successful.
The past or very recent outcomes will not have changed, but the way the client handles and moves forward from those events will be profoundly impacted. And I hope for the better.
Another key concept or word in perspective is choice. Choice is power, freedom of choice is a right that should not be given up so lightly.
When I was in elementary school, i used to just eat the plain old school lunches. That means, aside from the kosher meals, which i usually did not partake in, me and a hundred other kids all had the same thing. Melted Ham and Cheese, tater tots, and a milk. We didnt have a choice, except maybe chocolate milk or plain.
Then the lucky kids were the ones who brought their lunches. It was high society, from the fancy lunch boxes and pouches they brought to the special sandwiches with the crust cut off. Puddings and fruit, maybe even a special beverage that made milk look, well vanilla. :)
They had a choice, their mom asked them what do you want for lunch this week. And they had choices. The rest of us were at the mercy of the lunch lady who planned the meals.
We weren't malnourished or exploited, but the extent to which we lived and experienced "lunch" was vastly different.
You have a choice. Even in your youth, you had a choice. For something better. When did you start to settle for mediocre life, with mediocre and subpar relationships, and just plain old vanilla living?
I promise not to use vanilla again for at least another week, mainly because i have too much respect for "Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream with bean specks", to continue to use it when i mean boring. There's nothing boring about the world's best vanilla ice cream.
Back to where I was... When did someone take that space cadet kid who was going to cure the world's illnesses and replace him with a time card punching drone who wasn't going to rock the boat because he is 4 years away from vesting and pension stage?
Perspective is important to take the lemons life gives us, and make a glass half full of lemonade. The part that no one mentions, is the other half is filled with perfectly shaped ice cubes that will keep this magicical lemonade close to freezing point as possible, so you can be refreshed.
Perspective is power, and reframing is the conduit.
If all you do is reframe what just happened, you will be better than alright.
I know i have to improve how I interpret life's happenings, and prepare myself for success.
I was rambling a bit much today.

Your Ideal Life
As a requirement for FC 105, I had to do an exercise called "Your Ideal Life"
It involved questions like "If Money was not object" what would your standard of living be like.
As i answered the questions, I answered some questions in a vanilla kind of boring way.
Example: What kind of car would you be driving on the weekends? At first, I put a mazda miata.
So, thats a nice car, always well received in the roadster community, then after the 2nd step, the exercise requires us to go back through and determine where we might have been too conservative.
So i go back to the miata, and realize... I want an ARIEL ATOM.
This is a real car. It can pull so many g forces, your cheeks will quiver.. the facial ones sicko...
So what is the point of my post? Well not that I am a greedy car-monger who will be charging people excessive fees so i can get my dream car, but that even in a fantasy world, sometimes we shortchange our dreams and aspirations.
I realize, I do that to myself, imagine how many other people do it.
When I was in my 20's only 3 years ago, my friends told me I was a dreamer.
I guess now I have downgraded to a daydreamer.
As a result of the exercise, outcome number one is to dream big again.
2nd outcome: Rank all ideal life areas, and pick the most important.
Turns out my goals for Family and Relationships was number one.
Within that subcategory, I decided that my relationship with my wife was number one.
You know reaching those goals are achievable TODAY!
By the end of this week, i commit towards reaching my ideal life by improving my relationship with my wife.
I know it's possible and it will be done.
The Ideal life isn't for dreamers, but its for realists as well. Its for people who love making to do lists and accomplishing things.
There is something to be said for checking off item number one on a long list of things to do.
You deserve your ideal life. Believe in that.
Dream Big
And get started on item number 1!

Fear is not good
From what I know from 32 years of life, the only fear that may be good is the Fear of God. And i bet the real translation of that word from the original language doesn't even translate into that word for that passage of the bible.
All other forms of fear, are bad. Fear is there to freeze us and move us backward.
Fear is the opposite of living with passion.
In order for us as humans to grow and improve, we must drive out fear.
I know that fear has kept me from action, from the right actions in the past, and I assume that fear will probably win out a couple more times in my life, but I do make a goal to win over fear.
Inactivity just lets time pass without it being maximized.
Not even maximized, but used to medium capacity should be enough. and some days you really squeeze the juice out of an 8 to 12 hour day of real work.
Today in teleclass, i learned that I should not fear. I should press forward and make real goals.
Goals to accomplish by next week
1. find a good coaching buddy. share something of that will help them, and learn much from them
2. Find a peer coach. Its a requirement, but I think its important to get 12 great sessions of coaching to improve myself.
Never fear. but realistically, rarely fear.

My First Teleclass
HI,
Today was my first teleclass to become a certified coach.
Steps:
1. Download PDF of class notes. Read over in advance and be prepared for class
2. wake up on time
3. Call into teleconference bridge.
It was good. There are students from all over the world. very cool.
We started off with the moderator asking if anyone wanted to share their successes?
One woman said this is my last class to complete for Foundation. So it was exciting.
I shared it was my first class in become a successful coach. WOO HOO for me!
The class was like a teleconference discussion with one moderator going over the material but more letting the students ask questions from what they read in the material.
Defn anyone can sit on mute and just get credits for listening in, but it is what you make it.
I am happy because i get to prepare and work hard, and post questions and reflections on the online community.
I hope to get the best out of it.
